Construction is underway on the Sagewood Booster Station — a new municipal water infrastructure facility taking shape within the Sun Rivers development in Kamloops, BC. Breaking ground in May 2026, the project represents a meaningful investment in the long-term growth of Sun Rivers, and Dawson Civil is proud to be leading it from the ground up.

Dawson Civil is responsible for every facet of project delivery — from site safety and scheduling to procurement and quality control. It’s the kind of complex, multi-discipline infrastructure project our team is built for.

The Purpose Behind the Sagewood Booster Station Project

Sun Rivers is a residential development in Kamloops, BC, and like any growing community, reliable water infrastructure is essential to supporting that growth. Reliable water pressure is a non-negotiable requirement — not just for comfort, but for fire safety.

The Sagewood Booster Station is designed to address that need directly. Once complete, it will increase the reliability, capacity, and resiliency of the local water distribution system — ensuring that current and future residents have consistent water service.

Project Scope and Delivery

The Sagewood Booster Station is being delivered for Bluestem Multi-Utility Services, with design and consulting services provided by McElhanney.

Dawson Civil’s scope on the Sagewood Booster Station covers the full range of civil works — site preparation, excavation, engineered fill placement, underground piping, utility connections, drainage systems, access improvements, and site restoration, as well as overseeing all subtrades on site.

Each element has been designed in accordance with geotechnical recommendations to ensure the long-term performance and stability of the facility. The underground infrastructure — pipelines, service connections, and drainage — is the foundation of the entire station, and it’s work that demands precision and experience.

The booster station itself is a purpose-built facility constructed from reinforced concrete, masonry, and structural steel — designed to meet current BC Building Code requirements and the operational demands of a modern municipal water utility. Inside, the building will house pumping equipment, mechanical systems, electrical distribution, controls, and instrumentation required to maintain water pressure throughout the service area.

Building the Sagewood Booster Station with Local Kamloops Contractors

Central to our approach on this project has been a commitment to local expertise. A key objective from the outset was to bring in experienced Kamloops-based contractors for each discipline — people who know the region, know the standards, and bring deep knowledge to their specific scope of work.

A&T Project Developments is handling the building construction — including the structure, concrete foundations, masonry walls, roofing, exterior finishes, and complete building envelope. KB Mechanical is installing the booster pumps, process piping, HVAC equipment, plumbing systems, and associated mechanical components. Westcana Electric is responsible for the electrical distribution, lighting, heating systems, controls, instrumentation, variable frequency drives, and integration with the utility monitoring systems.

Follow the Project

The Sagewood Booster Station is expected to reach completion by the end of September 2026. When complete, the facility will serve the Sun Rivers community for decades to come. Dawson Civil will provide updates as the project progresses on our Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn channels.
